The Most interesting Duck in the world

Heres yet another contest I really thought I was gna win on 99designs. Eh, at least I got more work to show and I learned a lot. I was to design a mascot for Venice Duck Micro Brewery that was as suave as George Clooney and as intimidating as ..Clint Eastwood.. in that movie. I forget, but anyhow, these are the sketches I came up with.

So I went straight into photoshop and tried to get that really graphic slightly gradient look I'm most comfortable with. I tried to keep that semi-casual look in both designs

So apparently the Brewery was located in Venice Beach California. Understandably he asked to see the character in more summery clothing. I was actually surprised to even get a reply since I was told at first they wanted a duck body as well. It was "the other owner" of the business who had said that and the other really liked the design. So I drew him surfing down the famous Venice Canals with shades and a hat. Yes, he's that confident he won't loose balance. I bet he still has his phone on him too. Also, I designed him on a product label since that was in the title of the contest.

Detective Children's book illustration

Ok, this is a big one. A lot of sketches so I'm gna condense it. It was another illustration for a 99designs contest. First, I was to illustrate an older goofy Jewish detective and his trusty smart bull dog. I actually did it very different this time. Was in a bit of a rush. I first made some fairly clean sketches.

Was a bit more experimental. I was trying to get a more textured and homey feel. Since it was for a children's book.

Then I was to create a "Stereotypical Older Jewish lady" and a thief trying to get her purse. I tried to make these sketches a little bit cleaner and then cleaned them some more in Photoshop. I got a little bit excited and more comfortable with the style ..I may have went a little overboard with the texture. Just a little.

The Super Consultant

A design I did for a company on 99designs who wanted a Super lady hero as a mascot for there consulting company. These are some sketches I did before taking it to the comp

This is what I came up with but -ehh, it didn't work out so, I turned it into a shiny portfolio piece! *yeahh* Its not alll for nothing.

Don't stick sticks Book Cover

Alright, a lot of updating to do. This was for a contest on 99designs that I actually missed because of timezone problems. Anyway, this was my first sketch.

Unknowingly I took the time to color it even though I could no longer submit it. If your wondering why I drew the kid with sticks in his noes, the books title is "Don't stick sticks in your noes and don't stuff stuff in your ears." I know catchy right? e_e

So, I missed the contest and so much work went into that. So I decided I'll just do whatever I want to it, and make it a portfolio piece. It's a good attitude to have when going into an art contest. If I don't win, I'll just make it into a portfolio piece.

Musical Explorers Logo

This is a very recent Logo I did for a toddler's music program based in NJ. These are some of the sketches I did before I took to the computer as usual.

And this is the final product! Expect more of these cute lil'guys. I've agreed to do further projects with them. Yeh, the game is in slow motion right now but I need some bread for my cheese, nah'msay'n? I sure don't
